Dead…

Death, the most dreaded of evils, is therefore of no concern to us;

for while we exist death is not present, and when death is present we no longer exist.

Epicurus

In an age…

In an age of constant movement,

nothing is more urgent than sitting still.

Pico Iyer

So what is time?

So, what is time?

I no one asks me, I know:

If I want to explain it to a person who asks, I do not know anymore and yet, I affirm with certainty that,

had nothing passed, there would be no past time – had nothing happened there would not be future time,

had nothing existed, there would be no present time.

St. Augustine

si nada hubiera sucedido, no habría tiempo pasado – si nada pasara no habría futuro,

si nada existiera, no habría presente.

St. Augustine

The birth of a man…

September, 2015. Putney, London.

The birth of a man is the birth of his sorrow. The longer he lives, the more stupid he becomes, because his anxiety to avoid unavoidable death becomes more and more acute.

What bitterness!

He lives for what is always out of reach!

His thirst for survival in the future makes him incapable of living in the present.

Chuang – Tzu

Chuang-Tzu
